Snowy Egret

The snowy egret is a small, slender white heron. Its bright yellow feet help identify it and also give it the nickname "golden slippers." An active feeder, it moves about in the water shuffling its feet to stir up prey. As with other herons, it was once hunted extensively for plumes to use on women's hats.
